Since the original foundations for Taziker Industrial were laid in 1969, we’ve nurtured our staff, grown our services and won long-term clients in all sorts of sectors. Our History

In the Beginning

Taziker Industrial began life in 1960’s Bolton, where our founder and Group Chairman, Tom Taziker, created T. Taziker & Co a commercial painting company undertaking decorative work to the regions superstores, airports and hospitals. Throughout the 70’s and 80’s the company would diversify, taking on more industrial projects; notably the Tyne Bridge in Newcastle, the Menai & Britannia Bridges in North Wales and Jodrell Bank Telescope in Cheshire.

Industrial Revolution

In 1994 Taziker Industrial was established, new premises were sought, and the company began to expand, offering our core services of surface preparation and painting nationwide upon landmark structures, bridges and industrial complexes; delivered through our newly formed division, TI Protective Coatings. The expansion continued throughout the 90’s, completing works on behalf of the Highways Agency, Railtrack and numerous Local Authorities.

Expansion Plans

At the turn of the century, the existing premises in the centre of Bolton were quickly beginning to restrict growth. Offices were on one side of St Georges Road, with the depot on the other; there was no room for further expansion, so a move to the countryside was in order.

Land was purchased for a new out of town facility and construction began in earnest; in 2001 our new Head Office in Horwich was opened, consisting of office spaces, warehouse, plant storage and training facilities. It’s been our home ever since, although it’s undergone quite a few changes itself.

The Railway Age

Following a comprehensive assurance process, Taziker Industrial was awarded a licence to work directly for Network Rail in July 2006; we began our first project, Oykel Viaduct, in January 2007 for Network Rail Scotland and since that day we have been continuously engaged by Network Rail across all territories.

This would see the greatest shift in the company’s direction since its inception; the success of our specialist services saw our Rail income encompass nearly 90% of our annual turnover. As a result, the board began to look at ways to expand our service offering, developing new relationships and opportunities across a broader range of markets.

The Complete Package

Through work with Network Rail, the company were now operating continuously as Principal Contractor, and as such were sub-letting packages of work on a routine basis to scaffolders and steelwork repair companies. In 2007 the decision was made to focus on the multi-disciplinary structural refurbishment offering of Taziker Industrial.

With this decision, we began the process of expanding our services; we acquired two specialist scaffolding contractors in Network Scaffolding and Project Scaffolding and founded an internal steelwork fabrication and repair division. Land was acquired close to Head Office to aid collaboration between the teams.

Landmark Challenge

2011 was an exciting time for Taziker Industrial. We were awarded the structural refurbishment of the Royal Albert Bridge, designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel on behalf of Network Rail. This was followed by the award of Phases 3 and 4 of the Tay Rail Bridge for a combined £41,000,000 and numerous Safety, Environmental and Historic Infrastructure awards.

With Network Rail’s 5 year CP4 spend period drawing to a close in 2014, there was a push to secure places upon the forthcoming CP5 framework. We were successfully awarded places upon the Scotland and North East frameworks, delivering £30,000,000 worth of structural refurbishment work within the first 3 years.

This provided the company with the platform needed to invest; allowing us to open further offices in Plymouth, Glasgow and York and expand our teams through regional support.

Looking to the Future

Our aim since the foundation of Taziker Industrial has been to become our client’s first choice wherever structural refurbishment is required. We will continue with this drive, opening up new markets both within the UK and internationally; developing our people and our services to meet the demands of tomorrow.
